Ask the renovator about pocket doors, which seem to be a new trend with new construction builds.
Why? Pocket doors can be a great space saver! It can be a great solution to a tight bathroom where the wall space is not enough to accommodate a swinging door. Pocket doors are also good for closets. Adding a mirror onto the pocket door front further makes use of tight spaces.
A plain pocket door can be dressed up by hardware accents or veneer finishes for homeowners to enjoy while the door is closed. The doors may be closed to provide some privacy within the space, such as an office off the living area.
Something of note, if you are in the process of building, try to have a wall thicker than four inches for your pocket door installation. It will allow for a sturdier wall/door system.
